Dimensions of the Breath
This meditation is dedicated to my younger brother Teddy who died suddenly in March of 2000.
Love you Ted and miss you.
A couple of life experiences that led me to creating this practice.
One was hearing my father’s recitation of the St. Patrick’s Breastplate prayer out loud, from his hospital bed at Mayo Clinic, one of his numerous visits for his heart condition. Words I recall…
Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ in me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.”
And, upon Ted’s death we chose the song I Arise Today/Deer’s Cry, which was played as myself and 5 of my 6 living siblings lead Ted’s casket into church for his funeral.
